Debt is hard to get on top of. Getting some sort of financial freedom can be difficult. But you can get out of it. Bank of America, like many other banks, offer debt consolidation programs. Their “Clean Sweep” program could help you, but some reviews would say otherwise.

Debt consolidation is a process of combining your debts into one figure that you can pay off. This process allows you to pay less money but can be dangerous to your credit. If you are in a position where you have to consider debt consolidation, your credit may already be in jeopardy.

People are generally impatient. This is why it is so easy for us to get into debt. Saving up money to make those purchases that are above our monthly pay is easy to get around once you get some form of credit. Lenders tend to provide credit at high interest rates causing people to get into debt quickly and stay in debt. Debt consolidation also takes patience. It is a slow process of paying it off monthly until you get to the bottom of your debt. Even though banks like Bank of America and J.P. Morgan Chase offer debt consolidation programs, they are not perfect.

If you’re trying to get out of debt and you do want your financial freedom, debt consolidation can be an option. But, it is only an option if you exhausted all other resources. Before considering debt consolidation you must look at your current bills, how much you get paid monthly, what you consider monthly expenses to be, and if you can start whittling away at your debt. You may find that once you write down the numbers and you can pay off your debt on your own.

A little quick research and a few questions can save you time and money. One of the best questions you can ask is, “where is my first second and third payment applied?” Some debt consolidation businesses will apply your first couple of payments to their own pocket causing your credit score to drop.

As always, look around. Different organizations offer different services and some may be in your best interests others may not be your best interests.
